In American English, the term "Man" can be used two ways: (1) gender specific to indicate the male, and (2)gender neutral to indicate all of humankind. One decides what is meant by the context. In my article, the Church of Man uses the second definition. It is a more poetic or impactful label than saying "The Church of Man and Woman", or "The Church of Humankind".

When US Astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon, he used the terms "man" and "mankind" to mean all of us, regardless of gender. The Society of Honorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02536906267332687130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855856123871700301.post-29866209537001607792012-09-09T18:42:29.689+08:002012-09-09T18:42:29.689+08:00"Man" are "woman" are just wor..."Man" are "woman" are just words. In the term woman alone, there is man. Our friend Johnny argued that "mankind" and "human" are non gender, if that is so, then the term "man" by itself is non gender. Do we have to blame our ancestors for just prefixing something to name the child-bearing gender?vencedorhttp://www.facebook.com/vquibralnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855856123871700301.post-74677702508977674852012-08-06T05:45:36.381+08:002012-08-06T05:45:36.381+08:00Aww, gee, shucks, thanks.Aww, gee, shucks, thanks.Edgar Loreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13363554010485644899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855856123871700301.post-25302343469279176672012-08-05T19:07:17.048+08:002012-08-05T19:07:17.048+08:00Not only useful, it carries some special significa...Not only useful, it carries some special significance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855856123871700301.post-27838448109040272602012-08-05T19:04:14.574+08:002012-08-05T19:04:14.574+08:00Sure it is refreshing.
